Mrs. Benz died Nov. 9, 2008, at Wyoming Medical Center.
Mrs. Benz was born in Council Bluffs, IA, to Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ledbetter. She graduated from South Sioux City Nebraska High School in 1932.
She graduated from the University of Nebraska with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, and was a member of Beta Sigma Phi professional women's honorary.
In 1943, she married William Benz, her husband of 39 years until his death.
Mrs. Benz taught in Casper schools for 23 years, until her retirement in 1976. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Benz was preceded in death by her husband, William Benz, and her brother, Lt. Col. L. E. Ledbetter.
She is survived by her sister, Maxine Trobaugh, of Tallahassee, FL, and two daughters, Kathleen Ferguson of San Jose, CA, and Arlene Allgeier; and son-in-law, Louis Allgeier of Casper, three grandsons and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church.
