George Chapman Bent was the son of William Freeman Bent (born Nova Scotia; 1799-1883) and Abigail Chapman (born Nova Scotia; 1802-1883). He was a descendant of John Bent who settled in Massachusetts in 1638.
He had seven siblings: Pamela (1830-), George Robinson (1830-), Charlotte Lusby (1824-1891), Rufus Freeman (1825-1878), Eliza (1932-1889), Eunice Amelia (1829-1868), and Barry (1838-1922).
He had lived at Douglas Lake and Nicola, occupation farmer and stockman. He died in 1914 at 84.
