Builder and civic leader. President of Bent Bros. Construction Company, Los Angeles, California. The company concentrated on the building of dams throughout the West. Projects included Morris Dam in San Gabriel canyon, Devil's Gate Dam, Pacoima Dam, Lake Hodges Dam, Exchequer Dam in Mariposa County, Bull Run Dam in Portland, Oregon and Hogan Cam in Stockton. In 1929 he was President of the Associated General Contractors of America. He also served as President of the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce in 1926, and was a Director of the California State Chamber of Commerce until his death. He was chairman of a special State Chamber of Commerce committee that was organized to put together a state unified code standardizing construction requirements regarding earthquake building codes. A trustee of Pomona College, he was also a member of the prestigious California Club of Los Angeles.
