Effie Mae Benson of Cadet, Mo., passed away Thursday, August 2, 2001 at the Potosi Manor Nursing Home, at the age of 89 years, 5 months and 4 days. She was born February 29, 1912 at Bonne Terre, Missouri, a daughter of the late John Otis and Bessie Florence (Skaggs) Haggard.
Effie was a member of the Potosi First Assembly of God Church. She was united in marriage to Isaac Benson on August 16, 1931 and seven children were born to this union.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Myrtle Owens; a brother Curtis Haggard and two grandsons, Darrel Doss and John Holmes.
Those who remain to mourn her passing are: her loving and devoted husband Isaac Benson; one son, Earnie Benson and wife Sharon of Iron Mountain; six daughters, Norma Jean Yount and husband Harold of Potosi, Betty June Link and husband Harold of Cadet, Jerri Holmes and husband Jesse of New Florence, Linda Marie Miner and husband Clarence of Cadet, Carol Joan Miner and husband Carol of Potosi and Joyce Ann Wilkerson and husband Jim of Mineral Point; 23 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss her.
Funeral services were conducted 2 P.M. Sunday, August 5, 2001 at the Britton Chapel, Potosi, with Rev. Curtis B. Warren officiating. Serving as pallbearers were: Randy Link, Clayton Miner, Jason Wilkerson, Michael Miner, Adam Miner and Kevin Miner.
Interment was in Redbud Memorial Gardens, Hwy. 8 West, Potosi, under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi.
