Obituary from POST REGISTER (IDAHO FALLS, ID) - 22 JULY 2008:
Our kind and gentle mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend passed away July 17, 2008, of cancer.
Betty was born March 25, 1927, in American Fork, Utah, to Frank Melvin and Emma Elvira Palmer Pulley. She attended schools in American Fork and graduated from American Fork High in 1945. After high school, she went to work for the telephone company as an operator, where she met Lynette Bennion, who introduced her to Eternal Mate, Grant Burton Bennion. Their marriage was solemnized February 14, 1947, in the Salt Lake City Temple. Their marriage was blessed with four children.
Betty was an active member of the LDS Church; she has given of her talents while serving faithfully in many organizations. She and her husband also served as extraction missionaries.
She loved the outdoors and spent many hours with Grant gardening. She enjoyed reading, handwork, quilting and genealogy. She crocheted many beautiful afghans for her children and grandchildren, as well as many hats and scarves for the humanitarian center.
She was very kind and gentle with her children and always told them of her love for them. Her example of caring for others, teaching others her skills and her quiet guidance will stay with us always.
Survivors include her children, Kaye (Mike) Baker of Idaho Falls, Dave (Marie) Bennion of Rigby, Janet (Layne) Beck of Smithfield, Utah, and John (Sandy) Bennion of Sandpoint, Idaho; 16 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, with two on the way; two sisters, Afton (Ron) Proctor of Pleasant Grove, Utah, and Delores (Willard) Rinehart Nicholas of Rigby; and two brothers, Merrill (Sharon) Pulley of West Valley City, Utah, and Richard Pulley of West Jordan City, Utah. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and seven siblings.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. at the Clark LDS Chapel, 199 N. 4300 E. on Thursday, July 24, 2008, with Bishop John Roberts conducting. The family will visit with friends and relatives Wednesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby and from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. on Thursday at the church. Burial will be in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
Her family expresses their gratitude to her many friends and family who kept her company in Lincoln Court, to the Lincoln Court nursing and house staff who cared for her, and Alliance Hospice for their kindness and support in helping our mother pass with dignity.
