Earl Thomas Benningfield was born to Sam, 1895-1977, and Rhoda (Wheeler) Benningfield in Taylor County, Kentucky. his father, Sam, was a widower when he married Rhoda Wheeler on Dec. 7, 1925 in Marion County, Kentucky.

Earl's household was listed as follows in the 1930 Federal Census of Saloma, Taylor County, Kentucky on page 15B:
Sam Benningfield, 34, Rosie (sic) Benningfield, 21; Sylvia Benningfield, 13,; Gladys Benningfield, 10; Nellie Benningfield, 8; James Benningfield, 3; and Earl Benningfield 1 8/12ths.

In the 1940 Federal Censaus of Marion County, Kentucky, page 18A the people in the household where he was living, were listed as follows: Sam Benningfield, 43, Rhoda Benningfield, 29; Nellie Benningfield, 18; James Benningfield, 13, Earl Benningfield, 11; Gathel Benningfield, 9, Robert Benningfield, 7, Emmett Benningfield, 5, Ethel Benningfield, 2; Sylvia Hunt, 23; and Charles Hunt, 2.

Earl married Mildred Goodin on Feb. 6, 1947 in Marion County, Kentucky. This Marriage is recorded in Marriage Book 39, page 492 in the County Clerk's office in Lebanon, Kentucky.

Earl Thomas Benningfield, 60, 103 Floyd St., Campbellsville, died Wednesday, July 19, 1989 at the Taylor Count Hospital after an illness.

Benningfield was a retired plumber and a native of Marion Count. He was a son of the late Sam Benningfield and Rhoda Benningfield, Lebanon, who survives.

Beside his mother, Benningfield is survived b his wife, Mildred Louise Benningfield, one daughter, Mary Ann Brown, Campbellsville; two brothers, three sisters, one half-brother and one half-sister, Emmett and Gowdy Benningfield, both of Lebanon, Ethel Mattingly, Lexington, Norma Ford, Lebanon, and Lynwood Benningfield and Gladys Hunt, both of Campbellsville; several other relatives and a host of friends.

The funeral was at 2 p.m. Friday, July 21, at Lon Dewitt Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Our Lady of the Hills Catholic Church Cemetery in Finley. Bro. Greg Ratliff and the Rev. Harvey Parker officiated.

Pallbearer were Garrett Mardis, Walter Caulk, Donnie Lawson, Donnie Newton, David Shreve and Larry Benningfield.
