ALBERT F. BENNETT ISLE LA MOTTE - Mr. Albert F. Bennett, 75, a resident of the Isle La Motte community since 1955, died Saturday morning, Feb. 14, 2004, in the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans City.
Al was born in Lincoln, Nov. 14, 1928, the son of the late Edward and Laura (Miller) Bennett.
He attended schools in Rochester and on Dec. 23, 1950, he married the former Attrude Dubuque who survives him. From 1965 until 1989 Al was associated as a machine repair specialist with the former General Electric Corporation in Burlington. Following his retirement from G. E. he worked with the Town of Alburg as a bulldozer operator. In earlier years he worked for the Hollingsworth & Voss Paper Mill and Ralph Blood Construction Company both in West Groton, Mass., and later assisted in the operation of the Jarvis Farm and also worked for Halls Apple Orchard in Isle La Motte. An active member of the Isle La Motte community he served as a member of the town select board, was overseer of the poor and still held the office of Weigher of Coal. He faithfully served his country in the U.S. Army and Army Reserves and was honorably discharged on April 29, 1955.
In addition to his wife Attrude of Isle La Motte, he leaves his daughter, Karen Gleich and her husband John of Isle La Motte; four sons, Alan Bennett and his wife Paula of Mascotte, Fla., Richard Bennett and his wife Judy, Kirk Bennett and his wife Deborah and Roger Bennett and his wife Cynthia, all of Isle La Motte; nine grandchildren, Shawn Bennett and his wife Carletta, Jeffrey Bennett, Sarah Peacock and her husband Toby, Rebecca Bennett, Laura Bennett, Danielle Bennett, Matthew Bennett, Michael Bennett and his wife Desireah and Elizabeth Gleich; a sister, Mrs. Mabel Peters of Groton, Mass.; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, a sister, Mary Ellwood, brothers, John, George, Walter and Edward Bennett, and a granddaughter at birth, predeceased him.
A Mass Of Christian Burial will be celebrated, Thursday, Feb. 19, at 11 a.m. from Saint Joseph's Roman Catholic Mission, Main Street, Isle La Motte Village. Father Maurice U. Boucher, SSE, will be the celebrant and homilist.
Interment will follow in the family lot in Saint Joseph's Cemetery. Friends may call at the Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton on Wednesday, Feb. 18, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
