Lona A. Addington, 87, of Seneca, died at 6 a.m. on Monday, March 8, 2004, at National Health Care Center in Joplin after an illness.

Lona was born March 30, 1916 in Newton County, the daughter of Samuel and Verna Bennett, and had lived in the Seneca area after retiring in 1975. She had worked in the Boeing Aircraft factory in Wichita, Ks., during WWII, where she helped the war effort by assembling B-17 bombers. She was homemaker, a member of the Seneca Church of Christ and VFW Post 163, Seneca Ladies Auxiliary.

Lona married Alton E. Addington in Seneca, and he preceded her in death May 12, 1999.

Survivors include two sons, Larry Addington and wife, Janet, and Joey Addington and wife, Jackie, both of Joplin; granchildren Sarah and husband, Jason Giebler, Josh and wife, Kenya Addington, Rachel and husband Jason Bryan, Jared and wife, Tara Addinton; great-grandchildren Victoria and Madelaine Giebler, Cameron Addington, and Morgan and John Bryan.

Funeral services under the direction of Campbell-Biddlecome Fufneral Home, Seneca, will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 11, at the Seneca Church of Christ with Harold Reaves, minister officiating. Burial will be in the New Salem Cemetery, west of Neosho, with Jason Bryan, Jason Giebler, Josh Addington, Jared Addington, Dout Douthitt, and Bill Steele serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made tot he Seneca Church of Christ or the Fairgaven Children's Home in care of Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral HOme, PO Box 380, Seneca, MO 64865.
