Biography

BETHANY, MO: Effie May "Susie" Bennett, 91, Bethany, (formerly of Kansas City, MO) died Friday, December 20, 2013 at the Bethany Care Center.
She was born September 28, 1922 in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of Edward and Minnie (Baldwin) Carnnahan.
She attended North East High School in Kansas City then went on to pursue training in Cosmetology working as a beautician. At the start of WWII, Effie took a position as an inspector at the Pratt & Whitney Bomber Plant in southern Kansas City. After the war she worked at the Carl Mann coat factory in downtown Kansas City. Shortly afterwards, she met her future husband Otto L. "Scott" Bennett, and they married on June 20, 1953. He survives at the home. They continued to live in Kansas City for 27 years until moving to a 160 acre farmstead in northwestern Missouri. Effie May was a lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxillary and also active in the American Legion Ladies Auxillary. Her membership and baptism in the Independence Avenue Christian Church were a source of happiness in her life. Her other passions included bowling and dancing with her favorite partner Scott.
Effie May "Susie" was known as a wonderful homemaker and talented cook. She is remembered as a hostess of the Bennett family's 4th of July Reunion for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents and will be missed by all family and friends.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, December 24, at the Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany, MO. Burial in Allen Cemetery, Eagleville, MO.
