Anna D. Bennett, 91, of Dover, passed away March 19, 2011, at the Golden Living Center East in Rochester.
Anna was born Oct. 26, 1919, in Quincy Township in Olmsted County to Lewis and Lydia (Ihrke) Walters. She grew up in the Dover area. On June 26, 1941, she married Lloyd Papenfus. After their marriage, Lloyd entered the Army and served overseas during WW II. Anna then worked as a nanny in Rochester for Dr. Baldes. When Lloyd returned, they bought a farm in the Dover area in 1946. They later divorced. She then married Richard Bennett Dec. 26, 1975, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plainview.
Anna was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and Little Valley Cemetery Board.
She is survived by her husband, Richard; two sons, Gary (Sue) Papenfus of Nelson, Wis., and Ronnie (Marilyn) Papenfus of Dodge Center; nine grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; two sisters, Verna Gowlland of Plainview, and Betty Bierbaum of Eyota; and a brother, Glenn Walters of Dover. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Judy, a daughter in-law Patricia Papenfus, and three brothers, Fred, William, Elmer
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 23, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plainview, with Rev. David Frederickson officiating. Burial will be at Little Valley Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Schad and Zabel Funeral Home in Plainview. Friends may also call one hour before the service at the church.
