Mrs. Merrel M. Bennett, 54-year-old widow of the late Raymond S. Bennett who had been a resident of Forest Grove most of her lifetime, died at her home in Forest Grove July 10 following an illness of the past several years.
Funeral for Mrs. Bennett was held at the Fuiten Mortuary Chapel, Forest Grove, Tuesday, July 14. The Rev. Richard Talley, associate minister of the First Christian Churhc, officiated at the service. Committal rites were at the Forest View Cemetery.
Mrs. Bennett was a native of Salibria Valley, Idaho where she was born February 18, 1916, the daughter of the late Edwin and Estella Percifield Hill. She moved with them to Los Angeles at an early age and then in 1928 they moved to Forest Grove. Mrs. Bennett had made her home here since that time.
She was first married to the late Arthur Brokaw and then on December 23, 1953 she was married to Raymond S. Bennett at Vancouver, Washington. He died here in January, 1968.
Surviving is a daughter, Joanne Smith of Salem; two grandchildren, and a brother, Albert Hill, Sacramento, California.
