Died at the home in this city, Tuesday evening, at 11:30 o'clock, Jan. 11, 1916, Mrs. B. Rufus Bennett, aged 66 years, 7 months and 26 days.
Amanda Louisa Hewitt was born on the Benj. Gittings farm, now owned by J.B. Campbell, May 15, 1849. She was married to B. Rufus Bennett, March 5th, 1868, Rev. Porter, of Blandinsville, officiating. Mr. and Mrs. Bennett have lived in LaHarpe township all their lives and within three miles of the old homestead where Mr. Bennett was born, coming to LaHarpe twelve years ago. They never had any children of their own, but have taken into their home seven children giving them the care and affection that they would their very own.
There is one brother, Cyrus Hewitt, of Pontoosuc, and three sisters, Mrs. Viola Kirkpatrick, of Macomb, and Ellen and Ida Belle Hewitt, of this city.
Mrs. Bennett united with the Christian church in May, 1867, and has been faithful in the church's service.
Funeral services will be held at the Christian church Friday, at 1 o'clock p.m., Eld. H.F. Keltch officiating. The burial will be in the LaHarpe cemetery.
