CLINTON – Our loving mother and grandmother Phyllis Vilate Cooper Bennett, 90, passed away Monday, July 11, 2011 surrounded by her loving family at the home of her daughter, Teana.
She was born June 23, 1921 in Fillmore, Utah to Franklin and Vilate Brunson Cooper.
Phyllis married Delbert Warren Bennett June 9, 1940. They were later sealed in the Ogden Temple February 14, 1997. Delbert passed away May 6, 1998.
She graduated from Millard High School in Fillmore, Utah as Senior Class President and Valedictorian.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a visiting teacher and seminary graduate and loved the gospel.
Phyllis loved to read, cook, play cards, sew, crochet and do crossword puzzles. She had a wonderful memory and great alto singing voice. Loved going to Parker, Arizona in the winter and Wendover.
She is survived by her children: Janet (Boyd) Loftus, Joanne Stanger, Debra (Jerry) Gailey, Robin (Suzy) Bennett, Teana (Rodney) Thirkill, John Bennett, 20 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Also surviving a brother Franklin Duane (Beverly) Cooper.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son-in-law, Fred Stanger, great-grandson, Kaden Stanger, grandchild, Jaime Bennett, three sisters, LaNola Bennett, Hilda Starley Warr, and Merl Bennett.
Special thanks to Applegate Home Hospice, especially Bonnie, Julie and Teana Thirkill for being mom's wonderful caregiver.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 15, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the Clinton 25th Ward, 2841 West 1300 North, Clinton. Friends may visit with family Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Myers Roy Mortuary, 5865 South 1900 West and Friday at the church from 9:40 to 10:40 a.m. prior to services.
Interment, Myers Evergreen Memorial Park.
