|Birth: ||Apr. 18, 1937|
|Death: ||Mar. 13, 2012|
Our mom, grandma, cousin and dear friend, Carolyn, passed from this life peacefully and, we observe, independently and purposefully on March 13,2012 at home in St George, Utah, surrounded by family.
Carolyn conducted her life as a family oriented, nature loving, classy, straight shooter, committed to sharing her truths in the light of her understanding of God's truth. With Christian charity impelling her to action, she could always be counted on to share her views on our concerns, problems, pains, and ventures. And she wouldn't hesitate long to voice her concerns about our issues, so as to serve our adjustment to reality.
Carolyn was born on April 18, 1937 and was the only child of Carl Hart Scobie and Beatrice Child Scobie. Raised in Shelly, Idaho, she toured America with her parents, conducting a National School Assemblies program in herpetology.
She met and married CLAY PUCKETT in Los Angeles in 1961. They relocated to Orem, Utah in 1963. She and Clay were divorced after 28 years of marriage and remain good friends. She married KELVIN BENNETT in 1993, who died in 2009 in St George.
Carolyn conducted two long-term careers designed to serve her family and community. Her first life long love brought people and horses together, as she taught us to ride in arenas, fields, pastures, parades and rodeos. She also hosted radio programs which emphasized community affairs, events, celebrations, values and issues to resolve.
She is survived by her children: Claire Willard of Brookings, Ore., Corinne (Bryce) Clayton of St. George, Utah and Carl Puckett of Orem and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, mother and two infant daughters.
We visualize Carolyn with luxuriant long blond hair streaming behind, at full gallop across the rural landscape of a Snake River Valley tributary on a great horse, probably Lucky or Chinook or Leilani or Gold. There were many beloved critters in her life and she has often expressed her determination to reunite and celebrate life eternal with them and us.
We also acknowledge her invitation to us to rejoin her in old and new ventures and celebrations. We may then work out all the challenges of a life of freedom, friendship, passion, service and Godliness as is her custom. Let us be ready and worthy of our "next chapter" with our wonderful friend.
Funeral services will be Friday, March 16, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 E. 800 North in Orem, Utah; where friends may visit with the family one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Orem City Cemetery.
