"From our mother, Lucinda Brown Bennett, we inherited the love of beauty, Christianity and patience. Her life also was a self-sacrificing one as her mother died when she was a small girl. She was her father's housekeeper and looked after other small children. She was married at 17 years of age. Battling with poverty she raised her large family with patience and love, always trying to show them the beauty of the world that her Lord have given them." - The History of the James Bennett Family as recorded by his daughter, Caroline Bennett Johnson

Lucinda's parents are believed to be Samuel Brown & Tammy (or Fanny) Whitehouse. More information is needed.

She is also believed to have a sister and a brother. Mrs. Lydia Brown Dunning (husband of politician Mack Dunning) b. 8 Aug 1838 in Rose, Oakland, Michigan and d. 3 Dec 1928 in Midland, Michigan (no children were born from this union).

Brother John W Brown (husband of Ann Gardner) b. 12 Feb 1845 in Michigan and d. 10 Nov 1906 in Holly, Oakland, Michigan.
