Vera was born in Ely, Nevada to George Lawrence Bennett and Mary Etta Kell on March 7, 1913. She married Pete Yano on Nov. 10, 1937; he passed away July 28, 1999.
Vera was the owner/operator of a beauty salon in Salt Lake City. With her husband, she became owner/bookkeeper of the Sue Rich Bowling Lanes and former owner/bookkeeper of the State Bowling Lanes. She was active in the Salt Lake City Women's Bowling Association and served as secretary for two terms. She loved to sew and crochet and teaching her skills to family members. She was making doilies at the age of 90 for her family as well as gardening and taking care of her home. She was a member of the Catholic Church.
Survivors; daughter, Susanne (Richard) Hanson, Las Vegas, NV; son, Richard John (Myke) Yano; sister, Alice Bennett, both Salt Lake; 6 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren.
Interment at Murray City Cemetery.
