Josia Chall was the daughter of John Filo Bennett and Elizabeth (Maggie) Spoon.

Her first husband was Dexter Day. The couple had two children in the 1900 Washington census, a five year old son Carl M. and a 1 year old daughter, Dorothy L. Day. The couple were civilians, residents of the Vancouver Barracks in Clark Co., Washington. (Carl M. Day was living at 1414 Hewitt Avenue, Everett, Washington in 1944).

Mrs. Chall was admitted to the Washington Veterans' Home on December 18, 1944.

She died February 10, 1945 at the age of 69 years at Retsil, Washington per her death record; however, her gravestone says March 10.
