Agnes Marie Bennett, 80, of Houston, Texas, passed away on Sunday, August 14, after a brief illness. A memorial service will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 22, 2011, at Lakewood United Methodist Church. Graveside Services will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2011, at Memorial Oaks Cemetery.

She was born Agnes Marie Williams of Gordon, Alabama. After graduating from Gordon High School, she worked for a time in Tallahassee, Florida, before moving to Houston in the mid-1950s. She married Dr. Charles Clyde Bennett of Houston in 1958 and worked for Underwood, Neuhaus and Co. during the 1960s. In the 1970s, she went to work with her husband, serving as his office and dental assistant at his practice on Memorial Drive. She was a devoted wife and mother and her Christian faith made her a source of strength for the family. She will be missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 2007.

She is survived by her son, Charles; cousins, Zelma, Judy, Arthur and Gayle; in-laws from the Day, DeWeese, and Bailey families and friends from Lakewood United Methodist Church.
