Lorene Davis Graveside funeral services for Lorene Davis, 89, of Dike were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, at Bennett Cemetery with the Rev. Julie Halstead officiating. Burial was in Bennett Cemetery with Billy Gregg, Grady Tubb, Junior Neal, Ed Holt, Marvin Chester, G.R. Romans and Darrel Tubb serving as honorary pallbearers. Mrs. Davis died at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2004 at Sulphur Springs Health and Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Davis was born Feb. 10, 1915, to Lee and Mae Armstrong Bennett. She married Earnest B. Davis on May 24, 1934, in Sulphur Bluff. He preceded her in death on Sept. 8, 1978. Mrs. Davis was a long time school teacher for Flora and the Dike community. She attended East Texas State University. She was a member of Dike Methodist Church. Survivors include daughters, Patsy Pettit of Mount Vernon, Patricia Eagle of Sulphur Springs and Diana Collins of Dike; six grandchildren, Ernie Pettit, Rhonda Neal, Tanya Eagle, Trina Osburne, Chad and Chuck Collins; six great grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren. Mrs. Davis was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Alton Bennett and J.D. Bennett; and one sister, Jewel Massey. Memorials may be made to church of your choice.
