GEORGIA EVELYN BENNETT passed away on September 1, 2008 in Cypress, TX. She was born in Itta Bina, MS to the union of Charlie and Bessie Prewitt. Preceded in death by her parents, brother James Prewitt, sister Bessie Blaine, and granddaughter Jessica Bennett. Evelyn leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving husband of 70 years Paul R. Bennett, Sr., her two sons; Paul R. Bennett, Jr. and wife Mary Ellyne, Charles Thomas Bennett and his wife Kathleen Marie, adopted daughter Mary Slocum and husband Denman, grandchildren; Alicia Bennett husband Amit Kshatriya, Kimberly Bennett-Myers her husband Richard, five great grandchildren; Clayton Myers, MaKayla Myers, Ethan Duke, Adia Kshatriya, and Leela Kshatriya, two nieces; Judy Harris, and Diane Mims, one nephew; Hubie Blaine, and goddaughter Kelsey Slocum-Blair. Evelyn was a resident of Galveston County for 39 years and was a member of the 1st Methodist Church in La Marque. She became a member of the Houston Covenant Church when she relocated to Houston and then became a member of The Encourager Church. She founded the Playschool pre-school in La Marque and enjoyed teaching pre-k to children for over twenty years. Georgia Evelyn will be greatly missed by all. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Linda & Glynn Moore, Rick Myers and Harlan Jillson. A visitation will take place on Thursday, September 47, 2008 from 12:00-2:00 PM at The Encourager Church 10950 Katy Frwy. Houston, TX 77043. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 5, 2008 at 10:00 AM at Forest Park East Funeral Home 21620 Gulf Frwy. Webster, TX 77598, with interment to follow at Forest Park East Cemetery.
