Albert Lee Benker, age 89 of Buffalo died Thursday November 23, 2006 at the Monticello-Big Lake Nursing Home of Monticello.

Funeral services will be Monday November 27, 2006 at the Peterson-Grimsmo Chapel of Monticello at 2 PM. Pastor Josh Nelson will officiate. Interment will be at Bellwood Cemetery of rural Zimmerman. Funeral arrangements are with the Peterson-Grimsmo Chapel of Monticello.

Albert was born on July 6, 1917 at home in Venango, NE to Adam and Theresa (Berges) Benker. On November 10, 1941 he was united in marriage to Ruby Einspahr in Amherst, CO. They made their home in Julesburg, CO from 1945 to 1995. The couple had one son, Dean born in 1944. Albert was a longtime member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Julesburg. Albert worked as a carpenter and installed carpet and linoleum in the Julesburg area. Upon his retirement in 1984, he worked as a curator at the Fort Sedgwick Depot Museum in Julesburg.

Albert is survived by his wife, Ruby; son Dean and his wife, Jodi of Big Lake; three grandchildren Tammy (Dean) Swanson, Adam (Laurie) Benker, Aaron (Jessica) Benker; eight great grandchildren; brother in law Marvin Einspahr; and sisters in law Helen of Denver, CO and Alvina Folker of North Platte, NE.
