Clarence W. "Benny" Benhoff, 90, of Fairview Heights, Ill., born Dec. 25, 1920, in Breese, Ill., passed away peacefully, Wednesday afternoon, March 2, 2011, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital, Belleville, Ill.
Mr. Benhoff was a retired operating engineer with Local 520, in Granite City, Ill. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and was a founding member of St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, in Fairview Heights, Ill. Clarence was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. He enjoyed talking with people, and never met a stranger.
Clarence was preceded in death by his wife, of 62 years, Dolores, nee Beutler, Benhoff, of Fairview Heights, Ill.; his parents, Henry and Mini, nee Voss, Benhoff, of Collinsville, Ill.; a sister, Mildred Frankovich, of Collinsville, Ill.; five brothers, Vincent Benhoff, of St. Louis, Mo., Raymond Benhoff, of Belleville, Ill., Wilfred Benhoff, of O'Fallon, Ill., Alfred Benhoff, of O'Fallon, Ill., and Wilbur Benhoff, in infancy.
Surviving are his daughter, Brenda J. (Ted) Dressel, of Edwardsville, Ill.; his son, Jerome W. Benhoff, of Wilmington, N.C.; a sister, Therella Britsch, of Swansea, Ill.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral: Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 8, 2011, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Fairview Heights, Ill., with Father Ray Schultz officiating. Entombment will be held in Lake View Memorial Mausoleum, Fairview Heights, Ill.
