Goldie was the son of E. L. and Fannie (Beaver) Benfield. He married Lena Laura Annie Honeycutt in 1928 and they had six children: Paul Hoover, Thelma Laura, Leonard Efrid, Lynda Sue, Lewis Wayne and Sylvia Ann.

MOORESVILLE - Goldie Banks Benfield 65, 221 Institute St., died Sunday in Lowrance Hospital.
He was born on September 27, 1908, in Iredell County to the late E. L. and Fannie Beaver Benfield.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lena Honeycutt Benfield; three sons, Paul Benfield of Salisbury, Leonard Benfield of Indian Trail, and Wayne Benfield of Mooresville; two daughters, Miss Susan Benfield of the home and Mrs. Sylvia Waugh of Mooresville; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Rev. Bill Armstrong and rev. Lamar Hewitt will conduct the funeral at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Cavin Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Willow Valley Cemetery.
