There's a problem with his year of death. Sending you following information so you can prove the marker is wrong. Am sending sacs for dates and linking him to his wife.

January 19, 1910 the Daily Herald ran article:
"This morning Alphonse Benny, a former employe of the city [Gulfport], was sent to New Orleans on train No. 9 and will be cared for at the Charity Hospital."
The article went on to say he had been the city sanitary inspector and had not been able to work for some time. That the city would defray his expenses out of the city's emergency fund and donations from city officials and the police department. It also states he had a "large family and their wants have also been looked after".
The next day an article ran saying there would be no expenses at the hospital as the city had an agreement with Charity Hospital to take care of their employees. It added the city had been caring for Mrs. Beney.

January 25, 1910 the Herald ran news item that
"Alphonse Benney, who was formerly on the city's payroll, and who left here some days ago to enter a New Orleans hospital, has returned. After he was examined by the hospital's physicians he was counseled to return to the pine woods, his ailment having reached that stage where medicine would be of little or no benefit.

Feb 21, 1910 the obituary appears:
At 9 o'clock this morning Alphonse Benney, a former employe of the city and who has been critically ill for the past eight months, died at the King's Daughters Hospital. Benney's death was due to Bright's disease.
