Mrs. Gilmore, Glendive Area Pioneer, Dies

Glendive, May 23--A woman who came to eastern Montana when the Indians outnumbered white settlers, died late yesterday. Funeral services for Mrs. Grace Bendon Marron Gilmore, 81, will be held here tomorrow morning.
She came to Montana with her parents in 1881. At 15 she married Edward Marron and lived on the HS ranch near Richey for many years. She was the only white woman in a 50-mile area.
When her husband died in 1898, Mrs. Marron came to Glendive, where she founded the Glendive Woman's club. She and James W. Gilmore were married in 1900. He died several years ago.
Mrs. Gilmore's survivors include a brother, Ira Bendon, Helena.
