SUTTON - Barbara Jean Bender of Sutton died Saturday, April 27, 1996 at Community Care of Edgar at the age of 42.
Services were held April 30, 1996 at Kohler Mortuary Chapel with the Reverend Rod Dunkerson officiating. Interment was in Sutton Cemetery.
Music was provided by Diane Dunkerson, organist.
Pallbearers were Donnie Bruns, Norm Griess, Gene McLaughlin, Donnie Bruns, Jr., Andy Cummins and Karl Leinen.
Barbara was born September 25, 1953 to Robert and Bonna B. (Roberts) Bender in Hastings. She attended Sutton elementary and Sutton High School, where she graduated in the class of 1971.
After her graduation she joined the Navy in March 11, 1973. She took her naval training in Orlando, FL, the was shipped to San Diego, CA and back to Glenview, IL. She served eight years in the Navy and was discharged March 10, 1981. After her service in the Navy she was employed at the San Diego Veterans' Administration and retried (sic) from there in June of 1995. She then moved back to Nebraska and lived with Judy, her cousin, and Norm Griess near Henderson. She them (sic) moved to her parents home in Sutton until they took her to the Community Care of Edgar in mid April.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Jacob and Theresa Bender and Mabel Roberts.
Survivors include her parents Robert and Bonna Bender of Sutton and other relatives.
