18 Feb 2008: Earl L. Bender, 80, Lebanon, died Sunday, February 17, 2008, in his residence. He was the husband of Mary Jane Hunsicker Bender, with whom he was married to for 53 years. He was born September 14, 1927, in Kleinfeltersville, a son of the late Harry P. and Pearline Royer Bender. He was employed as a cutter for Milsan Mills, Jardan's and Canners of Lebanon. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, receiving the World War II Medal and Victory Medal. He worshipped in the United Church of Christ faith, and attended South Lebanon High School. Surviving in addition to his wife are children Robert L. Bender, Fallon, NV, James W. Bender and Lori Young, both of Fredericksburg, Debra, wife of Kenneth Klahr, Annville, Harry E. Bender, Jonestown; stepdaughter Bonnie, wife of Winston Lackey, Fredericksburg; three granddaughters; three step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; four step-great-grandchildren; brother Harold A., husband of Linda Bender, Lebanon. He was preceded in death by step-grandson Kevin Lackey, and a sister. Funeral Thursday at Rohland Funeral Home, Lebanon. Interment Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. [Lebanon Daily News]
