Anna “Marie” Bender, 90, a resident of Penn Hall, Chambersburg, formerly of Newburg, passed away Friday, November 13, 2015 in the Chambersburg Hospital.

She was born March 11, 1925 in Berkeley Springs, Morgan County, West Virginia. Anna “Marie” was a daughter of the late Roy H. and Margaret L. Michael Unger.

She was a member of the Newburg United Methodist Church. Anna “Marie” retired from the former J. Schoeneman Co. in Chambersburg. She loved doing puzzles, and most of all spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Crawford L. Bender, one son Kenneth L. Bender, three brothers and two sisters.

She is survived by three sons, Gary L. Bender and his wife Jeannine of Newburg, Allan R. Bender and his wife Sue of Bluffton, SC, and Donald W. Bender of Lemoyne, one daughter, Nancy J. Shannon and her husband Larry of Newburg, a daughter in law, Joyce E. Bender of Shippensburg, two brothers, Marshall Unger of Citronelle, AL, and Rodger Unger of Biglerville, two sisters, Julia Bender of Shippensburg, and Patricia McDannell of Orrtanna, eight grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 19, 2015 in the Newburg United Methodist Church at 1:00 p.m. Officiating will be The Rev. Steve P. Salisbury. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. A viewing will be held Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Shippensburg.
