The son of Jewell and Edna Kerr Benage, he had served in the U. S. Navy, and earned a degree in finance and business from Drury University. He was associated with United Savings and Loan for many years, retiring as Chairman of the Board and C.E.O. He also was a respected cattle farmer. He was currently serving on the Board of Directors of U. S. Bank.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Lebanon, the Kiwanis Club, and Lebanon Country Club. He had served on countless boards and committees and was involved in many civic organizations.
J C is survived by his wife, Judy (Fohn) Benage; a son, Joseph Benage, and his wife, Marilee; three daughters, Donna Caffey, and her husband, Rick, Amy Cook, and her husband, Rob, and Julia Pederson, and her husband, Garry; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a brother, Cotie Benage.
Entombment in Mount Rose Memorial Park Chapel Mausoleum.
