Birth: unknown, Germany
Death: 1819
Franklin County
Pennsylvania, USA

There have been several variations to Adam's last name. Prior to 1845 he and his farmily went by the name PELTZ in court documents. Family legend has it that he was a Hessian soldier. Research from the Hetrina files lists 2 soldiers named Adam PELZ.

One was listed from the Hesse-Hannau troops and dying July 1782 in the U.S.A.

The other was listed as being born 1754/1755 at Weyerbusch located in the Westewald of Rhineland-Pfaltz, just east of the River Rhine in the hills. He was a Jaeger (Chasseur)in the Hesse-Chasseur Corps, 3 Company and is listed as a deserter as of May 1783.

In a book called "Portrait and Biographical album fo Polk Couonty, Iowa" is biographical article about his grandson, John Brewbaker. It states that his mother, Rachel Beltz, was a daughter of Adam Beltz, a native of Hesse Darmstadt, Germany, who crossed the Atlantic and settled in Frankliln County in an early day. His death occurred in 1819.
