David Lee Bellamy age 78, a resident of Vienna, Illinois, passed away Sunday morning, March 20, 2011, at 11:43 AM at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah, Kentucky.
David was born November 14, 1932 in Vienna, Illinois. He was the son of Frederick Guy Bellamy and Marjorie (Howell) Bellamy.
David was a 1950 Graduate of Vienna High School. He received a Bachelors Degree in Zoology from Southern Illinois University.
David served in the Intelligence Division of the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Beggs-Gurley VFW Post 5222 in Vienna.
David was the co-owner and operator of the former Bellamy's Greenhouse and Flower Shop in Vienna. He was later employed as a Clerk II in the maintenance department of the Vienna Correctional Center prior to his retirement.
David was a 44 year member of Vienna Masonic Lodge # 150 AF&AM. He was a member of the Ancient Arabic Order of Nobles of the Mystic Shrine (AAONMS) Ainad Shrine. David was also a member of the Whistlers and Whittlers Senior Citizens.
David was a charter member of the Fellowship Baptist Church.
He was an avid fisherman and especially enjoyed crappie fishing on Lake Okeechobee in Florida. David also enjoyed bow hunting for deer in Johnson County.
He was a gifted and talented artist and floral designer.
Survivors include a brother – Stephen Bellamy, and his wife Betty, of Vienna, IL, nieces & nephews - Matt Bellamy of Carbondale, IL, Tracey & Chuck Thomas of Dongola, IL
Michael & Sarah Kerley of Greenville, KY, Angela Kerley of Raleigh, NC and also great nieces, great nephews, cousins, other relatives & many dear friends.
David was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning, March 23, 2011, at 11 AM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Pastor Russ Kreuter will officiate.
Burial will be in Vienna Fraternal Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded by the Beggs-Gurley VFW Post and the Illinois Burial Honors Detail.
Visitation will be from 5 PM – 8 PM Tuesday at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
Masonic rites will be accorded at 8 PM by the Vienna Masonic Lodge # 150 AF&AM.
