Lois Jean Barker, 89, formerly of Kittanning RD2, died Monday evening, Nov. 4, 2013, in Sugarcreek Rest in Worthington. Born Aug. 12, 1924, in Kittanning, she was a daughter of the late Clyde and Sara Josephine (Simpson) Bell. She retired from Alltel with 23 1/2 years of service. In their younger years, Mrs. Barker and her husband, Ken, worked with the youth group at Grace Brethren Church in West Kittanning. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James "Ken" Barker; an infant daughter; grandson, Bryan Dearing; son-in-law, Terry Dearing; brother, Jim Bell; and sisters, Vera Woytowish, Joanne Smulick and Ginger Thiry. Surviving are her children, James K. Barker Jr., of Kittanning, Pam Dearing, of Roanoke, Va., Daniel (Terry) Barker, of Kittanning, and Derry (Eileen) Barker, of Sarver; grandchildren, Jennifer Goss, of Roanoke, Va., Rebecca (Andrew) Buttrell, of Denver, Colo., James Dearing, of New York City, Jason Barker, of Kittanning, Shanan (Jeremy) Richardson, of Butler, Troy Barker, of Baltimore, Md., Cody Barker, of Philadelphia, and Michelle (James) Barker, of Kittanning; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Alice Graham, of Ford City, Janet (Gary) Pettengill, of Kittanning, and Woodine (John) Zanotti, of Hyde Park, Leechburg; and a brother, Larry (Jill) Bell, of Lancaster. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the SNYDER-CRISSMAN FUNERAL HOME, in Kittanning. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home with the Rev.
