Kathryn Bell, 90, of Hayesville died Sunday, October 12, 2014 in a Clay County care facility. She was a native of Swain County, but had lived in Clay County most of her life. She was a homemaker and a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star Hayesville Chapter No. 11. Kathryn was a member of the New Life Church, but most of her life she was an active member of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church where she served as Sunday school teacher, VBS teacher, choir member, WMU director, GA leader, and presided over many church functions. Kathryn loved working in her flowers and doing crafts.

She was the daughter of the late Rev. Joseph Henderson and Sarah Kathryn Welch Wilson and the wife of the late Anderson D. “Hank” Bell, who died November 20, 1995. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Sibyl Bell; and a son, David Bell.

Surviving are a daughter, Linda McClure and husband, Darryl of Hayesville; six grandchildren, Jason McClure and wife, Kim, Chad McClure and wife, Keisha, Darren McClure and wife, Christy, Marlene Bell and partner, Barbie Radford, Allen Bell and wife, Tabitha, and Isaac Bell; and 13 great grandchildren. Many loving nieces and nephews also survive including one special niece, Dorothy Crowe of Columbia, South Carolina, and one special nephew, Bob Sherrill and wife, Mary Leah of Bryson City.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, October 16 in the Chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville with the Revs. Johnny Foster and Jimmy Rogers officiating. The interment will be in Ogden Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers will be David Hyatt, David Hyatt Jr., Bass Hyatt, Bob Anderson III, and Manuel Payne.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 Wednesday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville.

The family requests memorials be made in memory of Kathryn Bell to the Ogden Chapel Cemetery Fund, c/o David Hyatt, 5356 Pinelog Road, Brasstown, NC 28902.
