BLUEFIELD — Helen Jane Biesecker Bell, 83, of 2708 Mt. View Ave., Bluefield, died Thursday, April 6, 2006 in Durham, N.C.
Born March 31, 1923 in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of the late Earle Bushey Biesecker and Fafa Chidester Biesecker. Helen Bell was a graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park, and a member of Alpha Xi Delta Sorority. She moved to Bluefield in 1954. A long-time member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Mrs. Bell was active in Women's Ministries and served as president 1980-1982. She was also active in the Mercer County Medical Alliance and West Virginia Medical Alliance. She was a past member of the Little Garden Club.
Mrs. Bell was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, David F. Bell Jr.
She is survived by her children: Claudia Grundman and husband Adolph of Arvada, Colo., David F. Bell III and wife Martine of Durham, Edith Moser and husband Terry of Port Orange, Fla., Jane Ferguson and husband Steve of Blackstone, Va., Amy Mathewson and husband Christopher of Siler City, N.C.; and eight grandchildren, Sara Grundman, Julie Grundman, Dorian Bell, Sophie Bell, Stephen Ferguson, Megan Ferguson, Alyssa Mathewson and Jared Mathewson.
A memorial gathering at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Bluefield is planned for a later date.
