Austin's 2nd homocide of 2011 calimed the life of Darin Bell due to a gunshot wound in the forhead on January 22, 2011.
An arrest affidavit filled Friday, said police responding to a call at a campsite in a wooded area off Burleson road in South East Austin found 46 year old Darin Bell dead from a gunshot wound. Bell was found in his Winnebago mobile home, along with a notepad that tipped police off to a suspect. An entry by Bell in the notepad said a woman named Lou had shot at him before and had accused him of stealing a radiator from her campsite.
The affidavit said several wittnesses had seen Bell and the woman argue several times.
Police served a search warrant at Lou Ann Tompkins campsite where they found seven handguns, including a 9mm that investigators matched to the gun used to kill Bell. the affadivit said.
Tompkins 52 was arrested and charged with first degree murder. She remained in the travis county jail with bail set at $1 million. She could face up to life in prison if convicted
