Ellen "Nellie" C. Bell (1845-1927) was born the daughter of William (1816-)and Cynthia Beardsley (1818-).

Of her eight siblings, there are three known siblings: Mary Beardsley (1843-), John Beardsley (1847-) and William Beardsley (1849-). 1815 census

She attended Limestone Academy and later, taught school for three years.

She married Edwin M. Bell (1846-1932). In census she listed her occupation as: Keep House.

They had two known children: Cora May Bell Dewey (1872-)and Carl Bell (1874-) of Yatesboro, Pa.

Mrs. E. M. Bell

Following an illness of more than two years, Mrs. E. M. Bell died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. D. H. Dewey,
on May 27th. The funeral services were held on Sunday morning.
Rev. Frank C. Putnam, pastor of the Presbyterian
Church, officiating, after which the body was taken to
her former home at Limestone, N. Y., for burial.
The death of Mrs. Bell was the first in a direct line of four generations.
The bearers were J. Harry VanArsdale, Robert Holmes, George C. Smith and George H. Stratton.
Beside her husband, she leaves a daughter, Mrs. D. R
Dewey of Castile; a son, Carl Bell, Yatesboro, Pa.; five
granddaughters, Mrs. Robert Penman of Erie, Pa., Miss Doris Dewey of New York, Mrs. Paul Wellenknap of
Elmira, Miss Mariam Dewey of Chicago, and Miss Ellen Dewey of Castile; also three great grandsons. In addition
to the above mentioned, the following relatives and friends from out of town attended the funeral: C. W.
Bell of Yatesboro, Pa., Dr. R. N. Penman of Erie, Pa.; and Mrs. Mamie' Hahn of Bolivar, N. Y.
Ellen Christine Beardsley, daughter of William and Cynthia Beardsley. was the last surviving member of her father's family. She received her early education at Limestone Academy, going afterward to Jamestown and Randolph. She taught school three years before her marriage to Mr. Bell, which took place October 27, 1869. Forty years of their married life were spent at Limestone, where Mr. Bell was engaged in business.
Twelve years ago they came to Castile, where they have since resided
