Funeral services for Columbus Wilson Bell, a retired Pemiscot farmer, were held Thursday afternoon, November 5, at 2 p.m. in the H.S. Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Caruthersville, with the Rev. Harold Wilder, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating. Interment was in Maple Cemetery with H.S. Smith Funeral Home services in charge. He was 86.
Mr. Bell was born April 19, 1884 in Hardin County, Tenn., the son of the late Jim and Mary Ann Bell. He died November 3, 1970 at the St. Francis Hospital, Cape Girardeau.
In 1906, in Clifton, Tenn., he was united in marriage to Miss Kathryn King, who preceded him in death on November 2, 1913.
Mr. Bell has lived in Pemiscot County for the past 40 years and engaged in farming before retiring. He was a member of the Baptist Church.
Mr. Bell is survived by two daughters, Mrs.Eva Anderson of Portland, Ore. and Mrs. Blanche Oxford of McClure, Ill. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
