JoAnn Agnes (Zittergruen) Bellings, 76, of 1375 University Ave., died Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009, at home after a courageous 22-year battle with cancer.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 26, at Nativity Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25, at Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2659 Kennedy Road.
She was born on Aug. 14, 1933, in Elkport, Iowa, daughter of Edward and Agnes (Lundt) Zittergruen. She was a 1951 graduate of Guttenburg Public High School, Guttenberg, Iowa, and obtained her beautician's license from The Dubuque Beauty Academy.
She married Benjamin B. Bellings on Aug. 14, 1952, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
JoAnn was a longtime member of Nativity Church and its Mother's Club.
She enjoyed the outdoors, walking, shopping, traveling, going out to eat and spending time with her friends and family. JoAnn was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who cherished spending time with her grandchildren.
Surviving are her husband, Benjamin; her four children, Peter (Ginny) Bellings, Liz (Steve) Thor, Andy (Sai) Bellings and Ben (Sarah) Bellings, all of Dubuque; her grandchildren, Nicole and Joe Thor and Alex, Ann and Ami Jin Bellings and Taylor Bellings; and her brother-in-law, Joe Ihm, of Guttenberg.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, June Ihm.
