Betty Jo Thomas Belk, 53, passed away Thursday, April 17, 2008 at Presbyterian Hospital. Born December 12, 1954, Mrs. Belk was a daughter of Herbert H. Thomas of Charlotte and the late Stella Mae Greer Thomas. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and had been employed with the Family Dollar Store in Kings Mountain. She was a friend to everyone she met.
In addition to her father and step-mother, Herbert and Louise Thomas, Mrs. Belk's family includes her sons, Christopher Wayne Malone and his wife, Pam, and Travis Ryan Malone, both of Bessemer City; five grandchildren, Michael and Jason Malone of Iron Station, Tyler Deaton, Hunter and Autumn Malone of Bessemer City; four sisters, Donna Lemmons of Charlotte, Diane Mohammed of Stanley, Lois Greer of Melbourne, KY, and Dawn Hestikind of Charlotte; and two brothers, Herbert H. Thomas, Jr. of Stanley and Roy Moritz of Smyrna, DE.
She was preceded in death by her mother; her husband, Robert Dean Belk; and a son, Rex Allen Malone.
A service to celebrate Mrs. Belk's life will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, April 21 at Calvary Baptist Church with the Reverend Brian Taule officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn West Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service.
