Constance Reynolds Belin, 87, of Waverly, died Thursday at homeBorn in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late Dorrance and Mable Doudge cq Reynolds.
She was past president of the Waverly Community House and served on its board of trustees from 1936 to 1960.
She was also a trustee of Keystone Junior College, LaPlume, from 1972 to 1976 and was past president of the Visiting Nurse Association, Scranton, serving as a board member from 1942 to 1988.
She was also on the boards of directors of the Wyoming Historical and Geological Society, Wilkes-Barre, Planned Parenthood of Lackawanna County, the Community Concert Association, Scranton; Welfare Council of Lackawanna County, Hahneman Hospital -- now the Community Medical Center -- of Scranton, Pennsylvania League of Nursing, the National Organization for Public Health Nursing and the National League of Nursing.
She was an active member of the Junior League of Scranton and, in 1945, received its Margaret L. Richards Award for distinguished community service.
She was also named a Distinguished Daughter of Pennsylvania in 1986 in recognition of her many years of national, state and local volunteer service. In 1989, she was inducted into The Academy for her many years of service to Keystone Junior College.
She was also a trustee emerita of Keystone Junior College, a sustaining member of the Junior League of Scranton, the Waverly Woman's Club and the Church of the Epiphany, Glenburn.
She was preceded in death by her husband, C. Welles Belin, in 1990; sisters, Nancy Reynolds Coffinberry and Patricia Reynolds.
Surviving are daughters, Lucie Belin Steele, Haverford; Mary Belin Rhodes, Waverly; sons, Dorrance Reynolds Belin, Waverly; Charles Welles Belin Jr., Savannah, Ga.; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two nieces.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Church of the Epiphany, with the Rev. Canon Henry A. Male, rector, officiating.
Private interment will be at the convenience of the family in Hickory Grove Cemetery, Waverly.
Friends may call 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the family home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Church of the Epiphany, Glenburn.
