She was born April 6, 1919, in Buffalo, Missouri. She married Roy C. Belford on August 11, 1944, in a family home in Buffalo, Missouri. As a young woman she attended the Kansas City Conservatory of Music. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church for 65 years, joining the Harmony Class for young married couples, and remaining a member for over 60 years. For over 50 years she was also their pianist. She was a member of the United Methodist Women, and a member of the Sesame Club. She was an accomplished musician, and was one of the pipe organists at her church, as well as pianist and organist for local funeral homes. Her love of music was a constant theme in her life and transmitted to her children. Although a long time resident of Okmulgee, her love of the beauty of the Missouri Ozarks never waned and she frequently returned for visits. Maxine's greatest joys and sorrows came from her deep love for her family, her friends and her faith. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vest and Ethyl Asbridge, and her husband Roy C. Belford.
