Genevieve Caroline Belcher, 90, died on Friday, June 19, 2009, at Calhoun County Medical Care Facility. Mrs. Belcher was born on June 20, 1918, in Battle Creek to Melvin and Hazel B. (Dickison) Tuck.

She graduated from Battle Creek Central High School in 1936, and then graduated from Albion College with a Bachelor's in Music. She also attended the Chicago Music Conservatory.

On November 15, 1942, she married Edward L. Belcher at the First Methodist Church in Battle Creek. The couple then moved to Carmel, California, while Ed was stationed in the U.S. Army. After his honorable discharge they moved back to Marshall where she was a home maker and gave piano lessons from her home. He preceded her in death on March 25, 2008. While at the Music Conservatory Mrs. Belcher played piano for Kraft Music Hall and performed opera thought out the United States. Upon returning from Chicago she taught at Olivet College.

She was a member of the Marshall United Methodist Church, were she was very active serving on various committees, member of the Monday Club and a former member of the Marshall Women of the Moose, and board member of the Marshall Civic Players. Mrs. Belcher was always involved in a painting project and always moving thanks to Ed!

She is survived by her daughter Suzette Koster of Battle Creek, son Brent (Wanda) Belcher of Marshall, and 5 grandchildren, Kevin (Angie) Belcher, Kristin (Greg) McPherson, Heather Schroder, Kress Koster, and Kurt (Colette) Koster; and 9 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother Donald Tuck of Battle Creek. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a son-in-law Steve Koster.

Visitation will take place at the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. with family present at that time. Funeral services celebrating her life will take place at 12 noon on Wednesday at the Marshall United Methodist Church with Reverend Leonard Schoenherr officiating. A private interment will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery.
