Lily E. Beins, the daughter of Nels P. Bernhard and Lydia (Christensen) Eskildsen, was born in Hampton, Nebraska on June 19, 1913 and died in Grand Island, Nebraska on May 3, 2003, at the age of 89.
She grew up north of Hampton and attended Hampton Schools. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church which her grandfather, Lars Eskildsen, helped to build, and her grandfather G. B. Christensen was pastor. After graduating from high school she lived and worked in Omaha.
Lily was united in marriage to W. Don Beins on March 2, 1934 at Hampton. They had two sons. They farmed the homeplace northwest of Aurora and in 1960 moved into town. After Don's death in 1971, Lily moved to Lincoln where she lived until April, 2001. She then returned to Aurora where she resided at East Park Villa.
Lily was a member of the First Christian Church where she was organist and choir director. She also taught piano lessons for many years. She was a 50-year member of P.E.O. and past president of the Aurora Chapter. She loved music and playing bridge. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Don; her son, Ron Beins; daughter-in-law, Roberta Beins and grandson, Russ Beins, her brother Kenneth Eskildsen and sister, Millie Eskildsen Overholtzer.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son Ross Beins and his wife Joanne of Olympia, Washington; sisters, Ruth Eskildsen Schall of Decatur, Illinois and Doris Eskildsen Zavodsky of Galena, Illinois; grandchildren, Rod Beins, Rhonda Grosshans, Robin Sanderson all of Aurora, Becky Sharp of Omaha and DawnMarie Moe of Olympia, Washington and 11 great-grandchildren. She was well loved.
