Birth: 1824
Death: Jul. 26, 1911

Published in the Times-Picayune, New Orleans, July 27, 1911:

"Mrs. Amelie L. Behn, Seventh of Eight Distinguished Sisters, Passes Away"

"Mrs. Amelie Longer Behn, who with the exception of her only surviving sister, Mrs. Louise DeSaullos, of Pau, France, was the only living member of the historic Longer family, known throughout Louisiana for its aristocratic connections, passed away into the great beyond yesterday morning shortly after 8 o'clock, at the age of 87 years. Death took place at the home of her only lineal descendant, Mrs. John May, at No. 2406 Prytania Street.

Mrs. Behn was the widow of the late James B. Behn, who was a leading business man here. The deceased was one of a family of eight daughters, all of her sisters having preceded her to the grave, with the exception of Mrs. DeSaullos. They were indeed remarkable women, and have graced the most exclusive ballrooms in the land during their younger days. Mrs. Behn's sisters were Mmes. Samuel Bell, Florien Hermann, Jones McCall, Charles Kock, Musson, Lulling, and Mrs. DeSaullos, now residing in France. All of those ladies lived to ripe old ages.

Mrs. Behn was the daughter of Pierre Amedee Victor Longer of France, her mother being Miss Marie Manette DuBuys of this city.

Mrs. Behn was the mother of four children, all of whom have passed away. They were George, James, Marie and Angele Behn. George was the only child that married, he being wedded to Miss Mary Bayne, daughter of the late Thomas I. Bayne, a prominent attorney of his day.

Mrs. Behn was of the Roman Catholic faith, and her funeral will take place from the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Baronne Street at 10 o'clock. Interment will be in Metairie Cemetery."
