Jerry was born to Delbert L. and Laurel J. Behm in 1917. Not long after her birth, Jerry's parents and her sister Dorothea came to California and settled in Monrovia. Delbert owned the local hardware store in downtown where Jerry worked many summers helping her father run the store. After graduating from Monrovia Arcadia Duarte High School in 1934, Jerry went on to receive a BA from UCLA in 1938 and MA from Whittier College in 1965. After a busy and successful career in food service administration for Pomona College and Cal Tech Athenaeum, Jerry decided that spending more time with her children was important. She returned to school for her teaching credential and began a second career as a home economics teacher at Duarte High School (DHS), teaching invaluable life skills to young people. Jerry retired from DHS after 26 years. Throughout her life, Jerry maintained her membership with various educational and civic organizations including: Kappa Delta Sorority, American Association of University Women, Pasadena RFW, First Presbyterian Church Monrovia, and Trinity Presbyterian Church Pasadena. She was an avid bridge player, skilled cook, gardener, and piano player and traveled the world extensively with her husband Conrad. Loving mother, successful career woman, good neighbor and friend, Jerry was truly a woman ahead of her time.

Jerry was preceded in death by her husband of 29 years, Conrad Stolte and her sister Dorothea. She is survived by her son David Porter of Reno, Nevada, daughter Carol Porter of Orange County, granddaughter Briana Porter, and Conrad Stolte's children and grandchild.
