14 Mar 2008: Rebecca Batt, 84, of State College, died Wednesday, March 12, 2008, at the Methodist Hospital, in Indianapolis, Ind. She was born April 21, 1923, in Brooklyn, N.Y. She was married to Joshua Batt for 34 years until his death, April 30, 1986. Joshua was the former president of Penn Tran Corporation, Bellefonte. Prior to her marriage, Rebecca worked as a legal secretary in Manhattan. She was a longstanding member of Congregation Brit Shalom/State College Jewish Community Center. Her interests included travel, mah jong, reading and opera. She is survived by two sons, Dr. David Batt and his wife, Debra, of Indianapolis, IN, and Mitchell Batt and his wife, Rebecca, of Rockville, MD; two grandchildren, Emily Batt and Jeremy Batt of Rockville, MD; and a brother, Sol Behar and his wife, Pearl, of NJ. Funeral service will be 10 a.m., Sunday, March 16, at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College. Burial will be in Centre County Memorial Park. [Centre Daily]
