Funeral services for Ernest E. Begley, 46, who died in his car behind his Sixth Street tavern Monday following a heart attack, will be held at 2 p.m. today (Thursday) from the St. John’s Lutheran Church. In charge of the services will be the Rev. Alfred Schewe, pastor. Burial will be made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Begley apparently was getting out of his car when stricken. He was found by Eugene Christie and Clarence (Bud) Bremer, Northern States Power Company linemen, as they went to the back door of the power company office.

He was sitting in front of the steering wheel of his car, slumped slightly to the right. The car keys were on his leg, and his left leg was out of the car as though he were getting out when the attack came.

The son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward (Marion Holt) Begley, Ernest Edward Begley was born July 24, 1911, in the Town of York. He attended Oriole Hill School and was graduated from Neillsville High School. He attended River Falls State College.

He owned and operated taverns in Neillsville over the last 20 years.

His marriage to Ione Leland Walker took place November 22, 1955, in Waukon, Ia. There was an earlier marriage.

Surviving are his wife and two children: Mrs. Donna Oelke of Green Bay and Gary Begley, who is stationed in the Marine Corps in California. Also surviving are his mother and a stepson, Dale Walker of Wisconsin Rapids.
