Arlene J. Begeman, 82 died Tuesday, October 7, 2008 at Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls. Memorial Services will be 2:00pm Friday at First Presbyterian Church, Parker.

Arlene Joyce Slade was born on September 16, 1926 at Springfield, SD to W.R. and Sylvia (Crow) Slade. After graduating from Tyndall High School in 1944 she worked in the Selective Service Office in Tyndall for the summer before attending Yankton College. While in college she worked part-time at a Building and Loan.

After receiving her teaching certificate she taught 4th grade at Parker where she met and was united in marriage to Edward Begeman on August 8, 1948 at Springfield, SD.

She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, of the First Presbyterian Church where she was active as a Sunday school teacher, deacon, and Ruth circle.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Edward in 1995, a son Don, and brothers Bob and infant Floyd.

Grateful for having shared her life are a son Tim and wife Cindy, Madison; 4 granddaughters, Kera and Jeff Heier, Brittni and Adam Punt, Brooke Begeman and Pete Boyle, all of Sioux Falls, and Brandi and David Pellerin, New London, NH; 4 great grandchildren, Ryley, Samuel, Lillian, and Deacon; a daughter-in-law, Candice Begeman, Lexington, KY; and a brother Jim and Lorraine Slade, Yankton.
