MILFORD Dorothy M. (Stoddard) Bega, 96, of Milford, MA. died Thursday afternoon (May 7, 2009) at the Milford Regional Medical Center after a period of declining health.
She was the widow of the late Peter P. Bega who died in 1996.
She was born in Westbrook, Maine the daughter of the late Elroy and the late Mary (Starling) Stoddard and resided in Bellingham, MA. before moving to Milford, MA. (74) years ago.
Mrs. Bega worked part-time at the former Ma Glockners Restaurant in Bellingham for many years. She was an avid reader, loved to cook and new recipes, knitting, and crocheting and was a longtime communicant of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church.
She is survived by one son, Robert J. Bega of Milford; two daughters, Mrs. Henry R. (Patricia A.) Marcolini and Mrs. Frederick V. (Rosemary) Bellacqua both of Milford; seven grandchildren, Deborah Altieri of Cranston, R.I., Diane Donegan of Milford, Robert M. Marcolini of Milford, Kimberly Leite of Harwich, MA., Scott Bega of Webster, MA., Kristen Cornell of North Smithfield, R.I., and Michael A. Bellacqua of Milford; fourteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Leona Stoddard, the late Charles William Stoddard, and the late E. Guy Stoddard.
Her funeral will be held on Tuesday morning (May 12) at 9AM from the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford, (www.edwardsmemorialfuneralhome.com) followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM in the lower chapel of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 7 East Main Street.
Burial will follow in the parish cemetery on Medway Road (Rte. 109.).
Visiting hours will be held on Monday (May 11) from 5PM-8PM.
