George Washington "Dick" Beets was the son of Daniel George "Green" Beets and Harriet A. Jones Beets. He never married. His death certificate say he was born in 1850, his headstone says 1848. He was one year old on the 1850 census, so the date of 1848 would be more likely.

Funeral of G.W. Beets
Atherton man was a bachelor and spent his life of 80 years there.
Funeral services for G. W. Beets, 81 years old, a bachelor, who died Tuesday at his home in Atherton. Mo. were conducted at 3:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon from the Salem Baptist Church. The Rev. William Barrett, pastor of the Methodist Church at Atherton was in charge. The music was by Mrs. H. Stovall and Miss Lola Mueller who sang several duets accompanied at the piano by Mrs. James Stephenson. The pallbearers were J. B. Lynch, Lester Jones, Will Thompson, Charles Jones, J. Roy Beets and W. L. Jones. Burial was in Salem Cemetery.
Mr. Beets was born in Jackson County and had spent all his life here. He was the last surviving member of his family.
